March 6, 2020, Health Update

Our district leadership is meeting regularly for status updates on COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Our campus stewards and district facilities team are trained and equipped to properly clean our school facilities and all staff has been encouraged to utilize cleaning supplies provided in their building to wipe down frequently touched surfaces.

We have educated our staff about the importance of staying home if they are sick.

In line with our district values, we are committed to preventing stigma and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, our country of origin and will maintain confidentiality. We have a responsibility to prevent and respond to any acts of bullying or harassment of students based on actual or perceived race, color, national origin, or disability as this can be considered race- or disability-based harassment.

Our Teaching and Learning Department leaders are developing guidance for teachers on assuring continuity of instruction for students who may have an extended absence due to illness.

Kindergarten Registration and Transfer Window Start April 13

The district transfer window and kindergarten enrollment for Corvallis residents for the 2020-21 school year will be available April 13 through May 1. This process typically takes place in March and has been rescheduled to align with the District’s review of current transfer policy and implementation of new boundary areas.

The school board is expected to consider a recommendation for revision of the current Transfer Policy in March. The boundary adjustment proposal will be presented to the school board at their March 5 meeting. The school board will be asked to vote on the proposal on April 9, 2020.

The School Board will determine whether or not to approve non-resident transfers during a March meeting as required by state law. The School Board will only be making the decision whether or not any non-resident transfers will be open and will not be announcing available spots.

The non-resident transfer application window will open in May. This date represents a change from previous communication you have received and is because of the new Transfer Policy schedule to be presented to the School Board on March 5.

Transfer requests for both residents and non-residents will be approved in mid-May and families will be notified.
