Impact Cheldelin Coming Soon

Impact Cheldelin is Cheldelin Parent Teacher Organization’s (CPTO’s) ONLY significant fundraiser of the year. Instead of selling magazines, newspapers, or chocolate bars, we put on a direct donation drive, asking family and friends of Cheldelin to donate directly to Cheldelin in the Fall of each school year. Our goal is to raise $10,000 this year which will help fund a variety of programs and activities at Cheldelin including:

  • Grade level enrichment like Mock Congress, Shakespeare Workshop, and field trips
  • Yearbook scholarships
  • Entrance fees for math, science, geography, and music contests
  • Teacher and Classroom Grants
  • 8th Grade Party
  • Supplies for PAWS activities and student incentives

In order to increase participation and make Cheldelin a more equitable experience for our students, we are adding a volunteerism component this year. Students will be able to earn prizes for both the donations they bring in and for their volunteer time during Impact Cheldelin.

On Monday, your student will bring home a donations packet, with a letter outlining what to do for Impact Cheldelin. Please consider making a donation and encourage your student to volunteer their time at school during our month long Impact Cheldelin drive. Thank you!

Smarter Balanced Test Scores

Students who took Oregon’s state assessments last spring are being given their test results to bring home today. Math and English Language Arts results are available now, but Science scores for 5th and 8th grade will not be coming out until the end of this year.

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conferences are arena-style, on a drop-in basis. All full time teachers will be in the cafeteria (part-time teachers may not be available during all sessions). Each teacher will have their own station, and parents are welcome to come during the open hours that suit their schedule best. Find your student’s teachers and move from station to station until you have seen everyone you want to conference with. Conferences last for 10 minutes with each teacher. Conferences are the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, October 30: 5-8 pm
  • Thursday, October 31: 9 am-12 pm & 1-4 pm

Let's Talk About Student Success!

The Student Success Act marks a turning point for education in Oregon. When fully implemented, our state will see an additional $1 billion investment in schools each year. This investment will provide new opportunities for every student in our state, particularly students who have been historically underserved.

You have an important role to play. We need your input to help develop a plan to best meet the needs of our students and our community.

Box Tops for Education

The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.

Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops MOBILE APP, available now, wherever you download apps for your devices.

The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school’s earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!
