Frequently Asked Questions about iPads

Consult this page first, if there is not an answer to your question, please see Mr. Deardurff.

Q: I cannot connect to the internet at home.

A: Follow the steps on the linked PDF: How to Connect to Your Home Wireless Internet.

If you are unable to open the PDF: Before connecting to your home’s wifi, make sure that all tabs in Safari are closed. Then, go to settings, and connecting to your wifi. After you have done that, open Safari back up first, and go to a website. This should bring up the mobile filter login screen. The user name and password are both john, and choose Corvallis LDAP as the server. Alternatively, you can bookmark the page: CSD Mobile Login Filter. If you do not get this screen, try turning the iPad off and on. The most common issue is trying to connect through an app, and not Safari. Connect through Safari first, and then open up other apps. More information can be found in the Home Guide for the iPad.

Q: How to backup your iPad to your student Google Drive Account?

A: Follow the directions on this PowerPoint

Q: My iPad does not turn on and is fully charged.

A: Sometimes all that is needed is a little reset. Press and hold the power and home buttons until the white Apple logo appears. If it does not appear, go see Mr. Deardurff.

Q: Apps are not working at home.

A: Some apps, like Showbie, require an internet connection to be able to use them. Remember that District iPads need to authenticate through the mobile login filter. The username and password are both “john” (no quotes), and the server is Corvallis LDAP. Do this step first, and then try using apps such as Showbie.

Q: I cannot download an app.

A: Double check that you have accepted both VPP invitations. If you have not done so, please accept both. You will need to accept each invitation one at a time, and you will have to sign into your Student Apple Account. Please Mr. Deardurff know if you are still having trouble.

Q: I left my iPad at home.

A: You can check out a loaner iPad in a red case for use during the school day. These MUST be turned back into the library at the end of the school day.

Q: All my apps disappeared and so did Safari.

A: Your iPad is now bricked, meaning that it can not be used for what it is designed for. Bricked iPads are caused by downloading apps that are not in the Self-Service kiosk. To get it unbricked, see Mr. Deardurff.

Q: Which printer is the printer in the library?

A: Choose the printer called CH lib hplj600

Q: I want to be able to download the Algebra 1 book.

A: You can use these links to download the book. It has been broken into 2 parts to make it easier to download.
